Small talk) What is your role model?

오늘 주고 받았던 내용을 다시 점검해보고 원하는 대답을 영어로 정리해보았습니다. 스몰톡 공부하실때 참고하는데 보탬이 되었습니다. 

Q. What is your role model?

당신의 롤모델은 무엇입니까?

My role model is my elder sister. She is six years older than me. The reason I picked her as a role model is that she is a strong woman. I mean in the past she had a rough time in her marriage and had insufficient money. So, she made a living working as a cook assistant and tried to take good care of her children by herself. As time went by, she made it to be a top cook. Also, her children grew up very well and have great jobs. Now, she enjoys her life doing what she likes. No matter how hard her situation is, she gets over it. I want to have a strong mindset like her. 

내 롤모델은 우리 언니이다. 6살 차이가 나는 언니이다. 내가 그녀를 꼽았던 이유는 그녀는 강한 여성이기 때문이다. 과거에 그녀는 결혼생활이 힘들었고 돈도 많지 않았다. 그래서 요리보조사로 일하면서 생계를 이어가고 그녀 혼자 아이들을 잘 케어하였다. 시간이 지나고 그녀는 탑 요리사가되었고, 그녀의 자녀들은 잘 자라서 좋은 직업들을 가졌다. 지금 그녀는 좋아하는 일하면서 인생을 즐기고 있다. 그녀 상황이 아무리 어렵더라도 그녀는 극복한다. 나도 그녀처럼 강한 마인드를 가졌으면 좋겠다.

Q. What was the most memorable event in your school life?

학교생활에서 가장 기억에 남는 사건이 무엇이니?

Back in my school, there was a school festival every year. Every year, some special celebrities were invited to the festival. One year, I remember Psy being there. There were other celebrities, but he was noticeably special to the point where all students danced to his songs at the same time. He had so much energy that he overwhelmed everyone. 

학교다닐때, 매년 학교축제가 열렸다. 매년 몇몇 연예인들이 초대됐는데, 어떤 한해는 싸이가 왔던 걸로 기억이 난다. 다른 연예인도 있었지만, 그는 확실히 눈에 띄게 특별했다. 모든 학생들이 그의 노래에 맞춰 동시에 춤을 췄을 정도로. 그는 모두를 압도하는 에너지를 가지고 있다.

Q. Have you ever visited the hospital for someone?

누군가를 위해 병원 방문한 적이 있나요?

Yes, my father got a back operation last month. I had to look after him for two days. It wasn't a good experience for me. I was uncomfortable with everything. I hardly slept well and ate meals. I understand the hospital system is suited for all patients, not caregivers. So, I focused on attending to my father. I wanted him to stay in his bed with his doctor's advice. But, he felt so suffocated and wanted to get some fresh air. So, he walked around the hospital. I had so much trouble stopping him. 

응, 우리 아버지가 저번달에 허리수술을 받으셨어. 내가 이틀 그를 간호해야 했지. 나에게는 좋은 경험이 아니었어. 모든 것이 불편했지. 거의 자지도 못하고 먹지도 못했어. 병원시스템이 환자들로 맞춰져 있는 거 이해해. 간병인이 아니고. 나 아버지 간호하는 데 정신을 쏟았어. 나는 의사 충고에 따라서 침대에 있기를 원했는데. 그는 답답해 해서 공기를 쐬길 원했어. 그래서 병원주변을 걸어다니셨어. 내가 그를 막느라 애를 많이 먹었어.
