이번 카타르월드컵에서는 많은 이변이 있었다.

한골먹다 concede a goal

한국은 전반 10분만에 포르투갈한테 한골을 먹었다.

Korea conceded a goal in ten minutes of the first half.

자책골 an own goal = self goal

브라질은 자책골로 한국에게 패배했다.

Brazil was defeated by Korea with an own goal.

극장골 last gasp goal = last minute goal

한국은 불과 게임 끝나기 몇 분전에 극장골을 터트렸다.

Korea scored the last-gasp goal just a few minutes before the game was over.

동점골 equalizer 

동점골을 기록하다 equalize = level

포르투갈과 1대 1로 비기고 있는 상황에서 황의찬이 후반에 동점골을 기록했다.

Facing Portugal in a 1:1 draw, Huang made the equalizer in the second half.

 

스페인 선수의 헤더 골이 후반에 2:2를 만드는 동점골이 되었다.

Spain's headed goal leveled the game at 2:2 in the second half.

 

전반전에서 김영권이 동점골을 넣은 후, 결국 한국은 포르투갈을 2:1로 이겼다.

After Kim leveled in the first half, Korea ended up holding Portugal to a 2:1 win.

만회하다 pull~back

후반 초반에는 2:0으로 밀렸지만, 두 골을 만회했다.

Korea went 2:0 down early in the second half but pulled two back.

Korea made a miracle at Qatar World Cup

Last Saturday, the Korean football team made a miracle. Korea beat Portugal two to one and dramatically went through the round of sixteen. No one expected Korea to advance to the next step. Because Korea had only a 9 percent possibility to pass the group match. Maybe most Korean just wanted the Korean team to play well regardless of the result of the match. But, it was beyond our expectations. At the beginning of the game, both teams were fiercely competitive. However, Korea conceded a goal to Portugal in 10 minutes of the first half. Not long after, Korea scored one point with the assistance of Ronaldo and they were tied one to one. As it entered the end, Korea was no longer scoring and started to be nervous. Finally, our captain "Son" ran toward a goalpost and got to score a goal just only a few minutes before the game was over. We dramatically came from behind to win over Portugal. I'm sure all Koreans were joyed and cried. But, it still remained one thing that we have to go through. The Korean team awaited that another match would end the game between Gana and Uruguay. If Gana won over Portugal or Portugal beat Gana by 3 points, we couldn't have passed the group match. That day, God was on our side. Since Urgauary realized we won the game, they poured strong attacks but they didn't make it. I'm so pleased Korea defeated one of the strongest football teams and advanced to the round of 16. I'm really proud of Korean players. The Korean team is going to match against Brazil. We all know Korea is the underdog, but no one knows the future. Because the ball is round.
