순식간에 in no time, 한 순간도 낭비하지 않고 Not wasting a moment, 헛수고 in vain, 쫄아서, 겁먹고 got the fright of one's lives

어둡고 폭풍우가 몰아치는 밤이었어.

It was a dark and stormy night. 

도시 전체가 어두운 구름에 덮여 있었어.

The whole city was covered by dark clouds.

어떤 소년이 집으로 돌아가는 길이었어.

A little boy was on his way back home. A little boy was returning home.

비가 내리기 시작했어.

It started raining. 

느닷없이 그는 UFO가 구름으로부터 나타나는 것을 보았어.

All of the sudden, he saw UFO appearing from the clouds. 

그것은 순식간에 길 위에 착륙했어.

It landed on the road in no time.

외계인 세 명이 나왔어. 그들의 계획은 지구에서 모든 나무를 뽑아가는 것이었어.

Three aliens came out from the UFO. They planned to take all the trees away from the Earth. 

한 순간도 낭비하지 않고, 그 아이는 친구들을 불렀어.

Not wasting a moment, he called his friends.

그 외계인들은 나무를 손가락으로 가리켰어.

The aliens pointed out to a tree. 

기괴한 푸른빛이 그들의 손에서 쏘아서 나무를 사라지게 했어.

An eerie blue light shot out from their hands making a tree vanish.

곧 친구들이 도착했어.

Soon, his friends arrived.

그들은 돌을 던지면서 그 외계인들에게 겁을 주려했지만, 헛수고였어.

They tried to scare those aliens by throwing stones but in vain. 

갑자기 애나가 그들에게 돌진해서 가장 크고 날카로운 목소리로 소리를 질렀어.

Suddenly, Anna ran towards them, shouting at the top of her shrill voice. 

그 외계인들은 겁먹고(쫄아서)그들의 우주선과 함께 사라졌어. 

Those aliens got the fright of their lives and vanished along with their spaceship.

그 아이들은 그들의 행성을 지킨 것에 대해 기뻤어.

They were delighted about the fact that they saved their planet.
